Although I have been fortunate to find interesting and rewarding job opportunities for most of my life, these jobs were missing the one
element that separates a 'job' from a 'career' - passion. But, how does one find their passion, ultimately leading to a Dream Career?
By listening to my friends and family, (and my own heart),
I realized there seemed to be a reoccurring topic which would excite and inspire me: Well-Being.
As I explored the meaning of "well-being," it became evident that this is an area that is often ignored.
The truth is, looking and feeling our best is a part of our well-being, making skin care an important part of our life, and health.
The understanding that skin health is part of our overall feeling of well-being gave rise to the passion I needed to move forward with my Dream Career.
I followed my heart, and my passion, and in 2007 launched my skin care business - Skin Couture.
Now that I had found my "Dream Career," I had to decide the best direction for Skin Couture, myself, and my clients.
I began with an extensive line of personalized facials (both for women and men), and through the years have added other services,
many at the request of clients, including waxing, makeup application, and nano-current treatments.
Each service is provided only after rigorous training on my part to ensure my clients receive the very best care, and latest technology
in the field. For example, I routinely attend classes at the International Dermal Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, in addition to webinars,
conferences, and networking events to stay current on all skin care related topics.
One of the most rewarding services I have found since specializing in the field of skin care has been as a volunteer with the American
Cancer Society's “Look Good Feel Better” program. Through this program, I have had the privilege of teaching cancer patients skin care
techniques to improve appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Even the application of the right
moisturizer can help the skin feel better, easing discomfort and even bringing on a smile, or two. (You can find out more about this
program by visiting www.LookGoodFeelBetter.org)
Even an average day at Skin Couture can bring about positive change for a client. I can't begin to count the number of times a client
walks in exhausted, overwhelmed, or just plain mad at the world, and leaves with a smile and renewed sense of well-being.
And there's that word again - Well-Being.
When I see how someone's mood can be lifted as they experience the personalized service they need, I know I have found my passion,
my Dream Career. At Skin Couture, our mission is to provide an atmosphere of calm, caring, personal service with the focus on helping
you achieve the healthiest skin possible. When you walk out the door, I want that feeling of well-being to go along with you. And THAT is a passion to build a "Dream Career" on.
I look forward to seeing your smiling face!
